Barrels to Boxes: Series 2 – Cyanotypes and Lightboxes

Series 2 – Lightboxes and cyanotypes – recreation of the boxes to represent the main products that are most difficult to find and the one sent by each participant.

The cyanotypes are on transparencies inside a lightbox to represent how the boxes would look going through the x-ray machine at customs. The use of cyanotypes fitted well with the aspirations of the project, in this method the shadow of the object was transferred to the development paper, this shadow symbolised the absence of the product in the country.

As my project is evidence based I also tried to create the appearance of a forensic image being examined in a lab. The white inspection box was created to resemble this process and to involve the audience.
